If possible, I prefer to work directly in markup creating prototypes that can be tested with users immediately while providing markup and hooks for the development team to begin working with as they stub out the application and work on the functionality. But this is only practical with small, light-weight apps or widgets. For larger projects, I normally begin in Visio or with grayscale PNGs in Fireworks to work out the UI and to gain consensus across teams as to what we are building in the current release. (The wireframes and user flows are included in the functionals specs which are signed off on prior to development commencing.)
What tools do use for Prototyping?
These days, Flex. (Why wire frame when you can code the front end so quickly and easily?) Historically, Visio and Fireworks.
Detail experience with Ubiquitous Mobile Computing, Wireframing, Heuristic evaluation? (If Any)
Designed interface for a mobile portal for Hewlett Packard, developed IA and UI for a variety of web sites and web applications for SAP.com. Created site maps, user flows, wireframes, etc, for same. Provided heuristic evaluations of existing products for Princeton Softech and made usability and accessibility recommendations. Most recently at IBM I am responsible for designing the interfaces of IBM Optim products including an eclipse-based design time application as well as an AJAX web console.
